Teens and Tweens
« on: May 26, 2009, 08:40:01 PM »
I was so excited to find this site for my 12 year old daughter who just discovered the joys of email. We both love that she can have her own email address AND that it can be safe. However, she was sad to see that the templates were geared towards younger children. Also, her friends often use smilies. She would love to have that available on here as well. Is there any chance that new templates or smilies might be available in the near future?

That is a fantastic request.  I will probably focus on more templates to start out with, and then add smiley support in the future.

I have credited your account with an additional 2 free months of service for your feedback.  Thanks.

I have added a couple of templates that might be more appropriate for your daughter.  I have also added support for smileys (though at the current time, they can not be chosen from a smiley menu, but will be rendered correctly).

Thanks.

This would be good.  My teens cringed at still being a "kid", meaning infantile.

Yes, I have my almost 12 year old requesting the same thing. She is embarrassed to open up her page because she thinks it is too 'juvenile' looking. Isn't there a tween login with fun themes? If so, I haven't seen any. Can we create them?

Thanks.

I understand your response to add smiley faces etc to make it more attractive for a teen but I think you may also want to have a generic address for teens.  Take out the kidsemail.org and use another name like xyzemail.org (or whatever - something that does not say "kids") - it should use the same infrastructure/servers and sign up process as kidsemail.org
For my oldest child - 13 year old, he is reluctant to use it.  For my younger kids (11, 9, 6) - they really like it.
Thanks for the great email service - it helps us a lot.

Thank you for your feedback.  I am looking to make some enhancements for teens so that they don't feel silly having an @kidsemail.org email.

I'll update this thread when I'm done with this. Thanks!
